Best version for wndr3700 v1

Post by jigglywiggly »

Hello all, I just heard of this firmware.
Now I want to do multi wan on my wndr3700 v1, is this possible with gargoyle? It's possible with openwrt on it, but if it can't I guess it's not the end of the world.

I have a few questions, I am on stock atm.
1. Is the gui good?
2. Is it very configurable like dd-wrt via the GUI?
3. Is the wireless very reliable and strong?
4. can i configure the wireless strength? I like it at 50% since I sit very close to it and I don't want cancer :X
5. Does the wireless drop like this router sort of does in dd-wrt
6. Is the performance good?
7. What version should I use and what version should I avoid?

Also I have a 50 megabit connection with 15 megabit of upload.
When I torrent and not even use 20% of my connection, I get packet loss while playing games. Is this related to the limited processing power of the wndr3700? I don't notice this on my pfsense box on a slower connection.

Questions 1-6: Yes
Question 7: Use 1.5.2 (and you should upgrade to 1.5.3 when it is released). Avoid 1.4 versions since you have 5 Ghz wireless

Your router has a 680 Mhz cpu and should not be cpu limited.

Thanks, you also answered yes to question 5, so the wireless does stop broadcasting randomly? I thought openwrt didn't have that issue.

What are the changes for 1.53?

If you have openwrt installed and want to upgrade to gargoyle, do you need the sysupgrade file:
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/download ... pgrade.bin
Router: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4
AP: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4

1.5.3 will hopefully fix issues with atheros wireless, one of which might be described as "stops working randomly."

If you have openwrt installed and want to upgrade to gargoyle, do you need the sysupgrade file:

Other way around gargoyle -> openwrt

http://enduser.subsignal.org/~trondah/l ... is-r29978/
sysupgrade here, safe to upgrade from gargoyle NA?

Yes, if you wish to go from Gargoyle to OpenWRT, you will also need to use the sysupgrade files.

I did that, then my internet wasn't working for some reason...?
Then I went into recovery and flashed stock, and it still wasn't working then I rebooted my modem and it works, so yeah. I am trying openwrt atm. Thx
