I have 3 routers I am making into a wireless bridge.
2 TP-Link TL-WR740N
1 D-Link DIR-601
I successfully installed Gargoyle 1.4.5 on all of them. Somehow, I have bricked the DIR-601 and one of the TL-WR740Ns. I can not access them to reprogram them. When I connect to them I get an auti-IP on my netbook of 169.254.103.203 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 - these seem odd. Normally I get an IP that falls within the typical range. These routers were attempting to be part of a typical 192.168.1.1 type of network.
I have attempted a 30-30-30 reset but I'm not having any success.
How can I access these again?

DHCP may not be working. Try giving your computer a static ip address, like 192.168.1.2. Then see if you can ping, telnet or ssh into the router by accessing it at 192.168.1.1.
If this doesn't work, you can try with the TL-WR740N:
Unplug the router's power cord
Connect any router LAN port directly to your PC
Configure your PC with a static IP address: 192.168.1.2
Plug the power on to the route
Wait until the "SYS" LED starts flashing repeatedly
Press the "QSS" button (on the front of the router) – the "SYS" LED will now start flashing at a faster rate
Login to the router by using telnet to connect to the IP address 192.168.1.1 – there will be an immediate unauthenticated login to a root shell
issue the command "firstboot", all settings will be reset to defaults
Supposedly with the dir601:
Unplug the router's power cord.
Connect the router's LAN1 port directly to your PC. Configure your PC with a static IP address of 192.168.1.2
Plug the power on and wait for the DMZ LED to light up.
While the DMZ LED is on immediately press any button (Reset and Secure Easy Setup will work) a few times .
If done right the DMZ LED will quickly flash 3 times every second.
You should be able to telnet to the router at 192.168.1.1 now (no username and password)
issue the command "firstboot", all settings will be reset to defaults

Re: Unbricking TL-WR740N & DIR-601
SOLVED!!
Thanks for the speedy reply. With your help and the openwrt failsafe I was able to get these all fully functional. I now have 3 wireless N repeaters!
We just moved in to a new place and running wires were not an option. And my wife thinks I'm not a bumbling idiot, well, at least for now.
Now to connect the network printers and get back to work!
Thanks again!
