Accessing a bridged modem
Tonight I realised that I had not turned off the wifi on my bridged modem. So to do this I thought I could just enter the IP address 192.168.0.1. My gargoyle hardware (TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v3) is on 192.168.1.1 (a typical setup) But that did not work. So I checked subnet mask, changed to 255.255.0....

I think this is a bug as it had me stumped most of this evening. Under Connection -> Basic -> Wireless -> Password: there is a 'reveal' checkbox. So I tried a different computer that was running W7 Pro. And it worked! Must be the operating system I decide...
Then I try the computer running W7 Home Premium that wasn't working yesterday. Turns out it IS now!

It turns out that FTP works with an anonymous login, but not when it it set up to require a username / password.
