Great, thanks all.
question: after I logon to the router and make the changes. how do I make the change to ddns_providers.conf permanent so it survives a router reboot?

Re: Quota query/monitoring by client
OK, I found how get current quota usage when I ssh into the router.
Question now is, how could I edit the crontabs so that I run the print_quotas script every so often and copy the result into a file which I can then access via SCP?
How would I write an updated crontabs file into the ROM?

I would like to write a little app that I can run on a PC connected to my router which displays the current quota for that PC. Onbiously I can get this info when I just go to the router login page but it would be nioce to have it running in some little window somewhere and refreshed every so often. ...

Rog 66:
I'd happily manually configure DNS on devices, problem is that on most tablets and smart phones this is not possible unless the devices are rooted, which mine are not.
I'll look at the posts.
Thanks for all the help!

Re: IP specific DNS
I understand the concept with two routers, I think. I'd hook up the second router to the first one and it would be on a different subnet, say 192.168.2.1. Now I have the problem, though, that devices on the 2nd subnet have problems printing to wireless printers which are on the first subnet? At leas...

IP specific DNS
First of all, I love your firmware, especially the quotas for a set of IP addresses, This is the only router firmware I found that does what you do, Congrats! Here's my idea: I want my kid's devices to be somewhat protected but don't want this protection to apply to my PCs and tablets. So it would b...

Re: Help with dnsomatic and openDNS
Thanks. I may have found another reasonfor the problem: i used opendns in the router setup and checked the box to force clients to use the router dns. Using dig on my linux box i found that the dns returning the address was not opendns as configured but the first dns in my resolv.conf. Am i understa...
