So is there any hardware available for Gargoyle that can actually handle 100/100 while splitting the bandwidth between 2 dozen users, managing QoS, and tracking quotas?ispyisail wrote:With QOS and other features turned on you will get about 50 up and down.I was told the Archer C7 was at one stage.

Re: Best Gargoyle hardware available?
Oh, and I'm totally unconcerned with WiFi performance, I usually use Ubiquiti or other dedicated APs for WiFi duty.

Best Gargoyle hardware available?
Hi all,
I was wondering what the absolute best hardware is available for running Gargoyle. I was told the Archer C7 was at one stage. Is that still the case? Or there higher spec units available these days?

Best Gargoyle Hardware
Hey all,
I want to set up a public hotspot with a potentially large number of users (200+) and so I need a high performing router.
What is the absolute best hardware that gargoyle can run on as of this moment? Are there any x86 builds that can run on, say, an Intel NUC?
Thanks,
- Naz.

WRT54G / WRT54G-TM
Supported up to 1.6 but no longer? Has support for these devices been discontinued?
I have two of these routers lying around and it'd be good to put them to use. I know they won't perform as well as a modern router, but for home use on sub gigabit networks I'm sure they'll suffice.

High performance AP for public WiFi
Hi all, I have been tasked with setting up a public WiFi AP at a community center. There are likely to be up to 100 people trying to use it simultaneously, and so choosing the right AP is crucial. I also want to use Gargoyle as a router so I can provide quotas and limits to each user. So I have the ...

Security restrictions
We have a LAN in our office which is wired only, and containes very sensitive information (healthcare data). We would like to privide free WiFi to our guests, and do not wish to get a whole separate internet connection for it. I have tried to set up a Gargoyle router (WRT54G-TM) to provide restricte...

Forgotten password?
I have a Linksys WRT54G-TM that I have forgotten the password on. It is running 1.2.x (not sure precisely, I set it up ages ago and shelved it a while ago). The factory reset button does not seem to be working. I'm not sure how else I can recover the device. Any suggestions?

Re: Forwarding SSH port?
Thanks. As I thought it was not Gargoyle related, your post gave me the idea to check with my ISP. Turns out they have a new firewall features that blocks a bunch of vulnerable ports such as 22, 25, 80, 139 etc. Sorry for wasting your time. Just to answer your question, I am using a Linksys W...

Re: Forwarding SSH port?
I have just tried forwarding 22 -> 80 in the same manner as you describe. The port is still filtered. I cannot rule out that the problem is not Gargoyle related, however I cannot see what else it could be. I am not new to advanced use of routers, having used port forwarding on many, many different k...
