Scenario
There are a number of PC's in the household but thay are rarely backed up to an independent drive because it is a PITA, and we are busy, and we forget. Sooner or later it is going to catch up with us.
Objective
Create a single place to backup on the LAN which is always there for automatic backups.
Prerequisites
Gargoyle router with spare USB port
Hopefully your router has a spare USB port.
If not then check out the Router hardware guide for a suitable router.
USB Hard disk drive
Small portable USB hard drives are readily available.
Format a partition on the drive with FAT or ext2 and make sure that it is large enough.
Create a directory on the partition for each PC to be backed up.
Backup Hard Drive
The USB hard drive should be plugged into the Router's USB port.
