Testing of the AdBlock plugin

How do I test that the the plugin is working.

I want to block this :


forum.?????????????????????.com/images/statusicon/*

I have done it with the above wild card. and also with all the length of the icons address and I add it to the blacklist though the router. And add and then save.

But it just does not want to block it. I even restarted the router as well to no avail.
