Hello there to all the gurus ,
Congrads on the great work!
Unfortunately, I can not connect to wr1043 anymore, with no aparent reason.
I flashed Gargoyle 1.3.5 + Backfire 10.3.1-RC3
using this http://openwrt.groov.pl/WR1043NDv1/gargoyle-pl/
But userinterface was in russian or polish or something, so I upgraded to: gargoyle_1.3.7-ar71xx-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
Most of the user interface was in english except the left menu (weird?)
Anyway.. web interface seemed to be working normally, I played with network settings, enabled wifi, very basic stuff cause this is my first contact with openWRT & Gargoyle, did a few resets, some with "power off" (is this bad?) at some point I disabled the DHCP, did another reset, and lost the device.
device ip : 192.168.1.100
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1 (adsl modem)
dns 192.168.1.1
Since I could not get the web interface to load, I tried ssh, and that did not work either. I have isolated the device with one computer with static ip and 192.168.1.100 for gateway.
I can ping the device, but thats about it!
LEDs seem to be flashing normally...
any ideas?
should I try to failsafe boot it ? will that reset all settings? how do I do that? press reset, and insert power plug ?
thanks for the help

You should clean browser cache. Most of the user interface was in english except the left menu (weird?)
Try failsafe mode.Anyway.. web interface seemed to be working normally, I played with network settings, enabled wifi, very basic stuff cause this is my first contact with openWRT & Gargoyle, did a few resets, some with "power off" (is this bad?) at some point I disabled the DHCP, did another reset, and lost the device.
Re: TP-WR1043ND 1.3.7 update to brick ?
thanks for the prompt reply,
I used the polish version (without realizing it before hand) because thats on the openWRT page of the device
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd
sorry to bother you with failsafe, but, how does it work ? causeI have tried booting with the reset button pressed, and nothing changes, ping-able IP is still the 192.168.1.100 and not 192.168.1.1 which I asume failsafe should force ... (?)
thanks
Manolis

Re: TP-WR1043ND 1.3.7 update to brick ?
ok failsafe worked, I had to press the front button (QSS) I was pressing the back one...
so I did a mtd -r erase rootfs_data
and device is visible again.
Thanks!

for failsafe mode on this router, mash QSS button intensely while it boots untill you see the system led go nuts, then your in failsafe mode. Telnet (not ssh) in.
