WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
Hi all,
First I'd like to apologize if this has already been answered/solved elsewhere.
I'm having troubles installing "gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3800-squashfs-factory.img" on my new Netgear WNDR3800. I have tried similar files such as "gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700v2-squashfs-factory.img", "gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700-squashfs-factory.img", and "gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-wndrmacv2-squashfs-factory.img".
Every time I try to upgrade my firmware, I am presented with the following (again my apologies, I can't get my screenshot to attach): It is the Netgear genie screen; the Firmware Upgrade subheader which states: Current Version: 1.0.0.57CH, Uploaded Version: OpenWrt.unknown; then an additional dialog box that states:
"192.168.1.1 says:
Firmware upgrade failed. Please check your file.
(Check box) Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs."
I honestly have no clue what to do, as I was just following the instructions presented on "http://raisedbyturtles.org/limiting-dai ... ome-router". I am just trying to set up a bandwidth quota, as my family and I chew through the 10 GB allotment we get from HughesNet.
Thank you for your help!

Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
Firstly, try 1.6.2.
Secondly, don't try firmwares that aren't for your specific router. You can end up with an expensive paperweight.
If 1.6.2 doesn't work, please post back and we'll go from there.

Lantis,
I just tried "gargoyle_1.6.2-ar71xx-generic-wndr3800-squashfs-factory.img" and it yielded the same results for me.

Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
Are you certain that you have a plain old WNDR3800?
There is also a WNDR3800CH, and given the existing firmware number in your error message has CH on the end makes me suspicious.

Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
This is the link where I bought it from "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058N ... NFAKXBQ7SI". However, the bottom of the router says:
"Model: WNDR3800
(WNDR3800-1CHNAS)"
"Model: WNDR3800
(WNDR3800-1CHNAS)"
Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
Yes this is the China model. Please get the WNDR3800CH version.

Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
Ok, thank you for your help! Just to clarify, the router I want has the model number "WNDR3800-100NAS"?
Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
Your model is perfectly fine to use, it just has a different identification number and so it needs a seperate firmware file.
I'll double check the model number on mine when I get home.
Mine is a WNDR3800.

Oh okay I see what you're saying. In that case, can you direct me to the proper file?
Re: WNDR3800 Firmware Installation
We only added support for that model after version 1.7.
The best version for you is probably 1.8.1

You can also try 1.9.0 which would also work well on yours if you are the kind of person who likes to be running the latest and greatest with experimental features.
