Xbox 360 qos

Post by MucuCat »

This is my qos setup and i wondered if its ok. Specially Active Congestion Control, because i do not know if the status is ok.

All i want is that when Xbox is running it has the highest priority.

Thank you for all the help guys :geek: .

Just upload the image to Imgur and give us the link.
QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

We need to see your rules at the top too, the info at the bottom implies something is wrong with the configuration.

Why the custom ping target? I recommend auto.

It looks good. You can actually simplify it more; you can delete VoIP, Fast, and Slow service classes from both upload and download since they're not used.

That'll leave you with Xbox, Slooow, and Normal. I would increase Normal % because that's where your web browsing will be. For upload, I'd put Xbox as 75% (to get you near 3500 min), Normal as 20%, and slow as 5%. For download, I'd use Xbox as 25% (to get you to 5000 min), Normal 70%, and Slooow as 5%. That would allow you to get rid Min BW and Max BW since the percentages will take care of it and give you plenty of browsing/streaming bandwidth even if your Xbox is doing big downloads.

As for ACC, since you have bandwidth at 25000, it should turn on when link load goes above ~4000kbps. Try streaming a 1080p/4K video and you should see it in action. Let us know if it doesn't seem to work.
QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

thank you a lot!

i have changed everything the way you described.

should the ping in Congestion Control Status be 800ms?
i downloaded a file with max speed (later it went to 25 200kbps) and the ping is the same.

Something's not right.

At that load, it should say ACTIVE instead of CHECK, and if ping were 800ms (max it displays) then fair link limit would be dropping rapidly since it would mean there's congestion.

Something may be wrong with your ping target. If you use Windows, open Command Prompt. If you use Mac, open Terminal. Type ping 8.8.8.8 and press enter. Then open a new window and type ping 208.67.220.220 and press enter. Do this while you're not downloading anything on any device.

Which IP gives you the lowest and more stable ping times? (it's probably whether Google or OpenDNS has the closest servers to where you live) Use that one. Go back to your Download QoS and check the Use Non Standard Ping Target checkbox, and type in that IP that you chose from above.

Then go download something to max out your connection and see if it becomes active (you might have to reload the QoS page).

ok i changed the ping target (i used namebench) and now my filtered ping is really low and Active Congestion Control is working! thank you so much :D

is there any other trick that i can use to make the gaming experience better? should i change my dns to this one since its 8% faster than gargoylse default dns?
