QoS help on 740N
Hello dear community,
So for a long time now I was using OpenWrt BB and later CC on my TP-Link 740N, but the QoS was a problem, because of the low storage, so I decided to try Gargoyle, although a bit pessimistic (don't take it offensive, please), and I was amazed after I installed Gargoyle but..there's always a but..my normal speed is about 90Mbit/s down and upload, but whit Gargoyle I can't get more than 60 for both after tinkering the QoS settings. Just wanted to ask if someone can help me, thank you very much.
P.S.: Sorry for my eventual bad english (not my native).
P.S.2: uTorrent doesn't even uploads when I create private torrent for a friend, (All setting from the client are OK)

Re: QoS help on 740N
A router with a bigger CPU might help?
it appears that you might have 400MHz?

Re: QoS help on 740N
Well it seems like on 1.6.2 I don't have this problem.. Is there a big feature/bugfix difference between 1.6.2 and 1.7.0(1)
Re: QoS help on 740N
1.6.2 is based on OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment while 1.7 and above are based on OpenWRT Barrier Breaker.
Since you fixed your speed issue, did it fix your uTorrent issue? You might need to manually activate uPNP in Firewall page. Also, make sure QoS settings are not hurting uTorrent ports. Since your Internet is so fast, you don't need many rules/classes for QoS. In fact, you can delete most of them and let Gargoyle's equal bandwidth sharing do the job. My QoS set-up:

QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

This drops my speed to bout 65-70...and I still have that uTorrent issue.Volaris wrote:1.6.2 is based on OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment while 1.7 and above are based on OpenWRT Barrier Breaker.

Re: QoS help on 740N
QoS adds more overhead / more CPU usage, unfortunately. So your router's CPU maxes out at that speed.ᵀᴴᴱ HUИTΞR wrote:This drops my speed to bout 65-70...and I still have that uTorrent issue.Volaris wrote:1.6.2 is based on OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment while 1.7 and above are based on OpenWRT Barrier Breaker.

For the uTorrent issue, did you try turning on uPNP? Go to Firewall then Port Forwarding and check Enable uPNP checkbox at bottom.

Then go to uTorrent settings and make sure that your port is open. If not, it's probably your computer's firewall causing it.

Re: QoS help on 740N
There are a couple of issues with Barrier Breaker and BWMon in Gargoyle 1.7.1
These have been fixed (but not released yet) and are still slightly behind the performance levels of 1.6.2. If you are feeling adventurous you can download one of the ispysail compiles.
All in good time
