How do I make the WAN port pingable?

Post by SurfingR »

How would I go about configuring the WAN port to be pingable from the Internet? The reason I ask is that I use DSLReports.com's line monitoring, which needs the WAN port to be pingable to do packet loss testing and to show me my average ping from CA and NJ in the US.

I know that having the WAN pingable is a security risk, but I have had good success with the line monitoring, so I believe it is worth the risk.

I am running Gargoyle 1.2.3 on a WRT54GS v1.1.

Thank you for your help.

Update 7/12/2010 - I resolved my issue by upgrading to Gargoyle 1.3.2 without restoring my backed up settings. I am able to be pinged at the WAN address. A later build of OpenWRT Kamikaze actually addressed my issue, but upgrading to Backfire was the easiest solution.
