Going from Gargoyle to OpenWRT

Hi!

I've installed Gargoyle 1.7.1 on my Archer C5, but I just want to take a look at the latest snapshot of OpenWRT. Can I just flash the sysupgrade image via the webui or sysupgrade or do I need to go to the factory firmware first?

And what about the other way? Are Gargoyle and OpenWRT images interchangeable?
