Choosing between Gargoyle and OpenWRT

Hi all!

I recently bought a TP-Link Archer C5 v1.20, and I've been thinking about switching to another firmware. I ruled out dd-wrt, and that leaves OpenWRT and Gargoyle.

Now, I know Gargoyle is based on OpenWRT, but what build? The FAQ says Kamikaze, but that is really old and wouldn't have support for my router, so that can't be right.

Also, is Gargoyle compatible with OpenWRT packages? Can I still use opkg to manage them? And what about using the SDK toolchain to compile source myself if I need to?

It seems to me that the main difference between the two is the webui, but I haven't seen the webui on OpenWRT, so I don't know if it is bad or not.

So in short, what should I go with?

Hi Gargoyle 1.7 Branch is baste on the BB branch of openwrt. Yes you can install openwrt packages. it is simple to swich from openwrt to Gargoyle.

OK, thanks for your reply. If that is the case I will probably go with Gargoyle.

Unfortunately, the links to the DD-WRT, OpenWRT and Gargoyle interfaces is down. If anyone knows of anywhere else these are available, I'd like to know.
