Oh yes... and not only by the BB builds, unfortunately...
I've been using Gargoyle for several years on 120Mbit connection with TL-WR1043ND v1 (pretty old revision 1.1!) and it was possible to get full speed actually using different Gargoyle versions over the years.
But no more after upgrading to 240Mbit (UPC CZ)... throughput was the same as before... (with direct connection between cable modem and PC I could get full speed, of course).
I read different reports about WR1043ND v1 max throughput, so I eventually upgraded to TL-WDR4300... but noooo, using Gargoyle, everything was the same using 1.6.2 with the latest updates from
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =14&t=6356.
So I went and did some tests with the TL-WDR4300 using different firmwares - stock (HW NAT on/off had absolutely no effect!), Gargoyle and OpenWRT AA/BB/CC.
I simply used a NewsHosting client to download the same binary ~1 GB file using default configs of the different firmwares - just flash firmware, boot router and measure the download speed... no special setups.
Wired 1Gbit network, of course...
And the results are very, uhm, unpleasant... for some reason Gargoyle is VERY slow even comparing to its 'parent' OpenWRT version...
