WDS with single port routers?

Post by lwrver »

Has anyone had any success using WDS mode on single port Atheros based routers? I have an application where I can't use a wired connection for either WAN or LAN. I haven't read much on the Gargoyle Forums about the WDS mode, nor can I find any documentation on how to set it up. Anyone care to enlighten me on this? Is there any firmware version that handles this mode any better than another? Does it really work, or is this a wishbook item?

Thanks!

I have only got 1 Atheros based device, and though its technically
NOT supported to do WDS across chipsets, I'll try and see if I can
at least get WDS configured on a WRT54G-TM and a Fon 2201+

They will be close together, so it shouldn't have any signal issues.

This will just be a try and see if it is possible. Main issue is that
I don't have any single WAN port router to test this.

I'll post test results on whether or not I'm successful.

I can confirm that WDS works with single port routers. I've been using a pair of MR3201A (ex open-mesh) which are Atheros based, running Gargoyle 1.2.3.

But there is a bit of bug at the moment, see http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... 442&p=3319 for details.
