I have a couple of TP-LINK WDR4300s hardware version 1.6 running the gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-*.bin release (replace the '*' with 'factory' when installing over the OEM firmware, or 'sysupgrade' when upgrading from a previous release of Gargoyle).

This version works well for me, although I have a fairly basic setup (router+firewall+quotas) and don't make use of advanced features such as VPNs.

The gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs may resolve?
