Installing Gargoyle as packages on WDR4300

Post by kahlcy »

Hi all, my first post.

I've recently opted for a TP-Link WDR4300, wanting to use Gargoyle for quota management. Before ordering the unit, I checked the Gargoyle site and although it wasn't listed in the documentation, there was a factory image available in the download area.

After I received the unit, on the box bar code, it turns out to be hardware version V1.7 which is not supported by Attitude Adjustment 12.09. So I've had to flash trunk Barrier Breaker, which seems to be running OK, at least on default settings. I haven't pushed it too far yet.

I thought I should be able to install Gargoyle using the packages. I'd like to get 1.6.0 up and running. What URL should I use in the opkg.conf to do this? The documentation says:

Code: Select all

src gargoyle http://gargoyle-router.com/packages/kamikaze0809/atheros-2.6
but that looks out of date to me and I haven't been able to browse the download tree under:

Code: Select all

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/packages/gargoyle-1.6/ar71xx/
(says 403 forbidden)

TIA

I understanding it can no longer be done

You might have more luck building your own image against BB

I ended up flashing Gargoyle V1.6 without any issues for me on my V1.7 WDR4300.

kahlcy: gargoyle-router.com/packages/gargoyle-1.6/ar71xx/SUBTARGET/ depending on whether your subtarget is default, usb or usb_large is the correct path, but you can't browse the directory. The list of packages is in gargoyle-router.com/packages/gargoyle-1.6/ar71xx/SUBTARGET/Packages.gz, and that tells the package system what packages are available. If you're unsure about your subtarget, ssh into your router and it should be listed on the welcome banner, e.g. ar71xx / SUBTARGET.
