Cisco modem/router in one

Post by barbelaa »

I currently have a Cisco modem/router in one. I would like to disable the wi-fi on the router/modem so that I can connect a Netgear router to the modem/router. On the Cisco modem/router in one, there is no WAN port, only 4 LAN ports. Could I have an ethernet running from a LAN port on the modem/router, going to the WAN port on the new netgear router, to allow my new netgear router to receive an internet connection and IP from my modem( which is also a router)?

This is very possible but be aware, some services don't like going
through 2 devices like this.

Most internet stuff will work, but some specialized programs won't.
