Hi all
I think there needs to be a better way of fixing static IPs to new hosts.
Currently I have tried to cut and paste the MAC address to Fixed IP address. I was unsuccessful so in the end I just manually typed the MAC address in..
In other systems they have the ability to tick a box and manually type the new fixed ip address
Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the problem. If you want to edit an existing IP just hit the edit button. If you want to add one you need to specify both IP and MAC.
I'm not sure exactly how you are suggesting this interface be improved. Perhaps you could provide a mock-screenshot or diagram?

Perhaps this suggestion is based on something in Billion routers, where several screens requiring MAC addresses provide a "candidates" link or button. This shows a pop-up window listing all the connected MAC addresses, with a tickbox next to each, You select the one required rather than having to type it in.

Ah.. I see what you mean. Actually I should have just looked at the name of the forum topic (instead of just linking to the latest topic from the front page -- D'oh!), which would have given me a better idea as to what was meant.
That is a good idea, I'll put it on the list.

Re: Featue request: Static IPs from Connected hosts
speaking of the static IPs,
I was trying to add one from my PC and noticed that the MAC is being filtered for colons(:), would it it be possible to include dashes or convert them to colons since some systems (windows) provide MAC address with dashes?
i.e. 00-18-D2-3C-55-C6 to 00:18:D2:3C:55:C6
just a small thing and might not need it if we include the 'add from candidate' type feature.
let me know what you think

Sorry, I forgot about this post
Yes, that's exactly what I'm after
Cut and pasting the MAC address is a pain in the neck when you know there is a better way!
