methods to Secure a DNS Server?

Post by belainex »

What are the available methods to Secure a DNS Server? What solutions to secure DNS operation do you know? How do you think DNS is important for the Internet operation? What happen if DNS of your company/network, your provider or root DNS failures?

Read up on DNS and what it does

You're asking questions related more towards the standard
IP Protocol definitions and operations, not questions for Gargoyle.

DNS failures are not entirely critical in a small business for
internal networking as IP's can always be used.

DNS failures for general internet will render web pages non-working

I.E. you can't goto www.google.com because it will not
resolve to its IP addresses which are:

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.l.google.com
Addresses: 74.125.53.99, 74.125.53.103, 74.125.53.104, 74.125.53.105
74.125.53.106, 74.125.53.147
Aliases: www.google.com

Study that Wiki page for general DNS questions.
