Changing Quotas

Post by cj_mack »

Hi,

I have just setup some quotas for my flatmates. I had a quota of 4gb for my desktop and 1gb for my laptop. What I want to do is remove the quota for my laptop, and add it into the 4gb for my desktop.

All MAC addresses are assigned a static IP. The desktop is wired directly to the router, and laptop is connected via wireless.

The 1st problem I am having is that when I remove the quota for the laptop, I save the settings, the page refreshes and the laptop is back there with the old quota. It won't let me remove it!!

Also, I tried to add the laptop into the desktop quota, however it wouldn't allow me to do so. It came up with an error about quotas being on the same IP. Is it possible that this is because I can't remove the separate quota for the laptop?

The third issue is when I tried to change the quotas (as above), is that all of the quotas for all computers reset themselves to zero, so everyone had their full allowance available.

Thanks,

Sam

I've managed to replicate the error you describe with the removed quota coming back and I'm looking into the issue right now.

As you correctly guessed the second issue isn't an error, just a consequence of the first bug causing the quota not to be deleted. You can't have two quotas for the same IP simultaneously.

I haven't tested the third issue yet, but I promise to look into it as soon as the first issue you report is solved.

Thanks for reporting these problems -- they are really major issues I want to take care of right away.

This should be fixed in 1.1.4 -- please upgrade and let me know if you still have problems.

I upgraded to 1.1.4 and now nothing is working at all. The power light on the router is constantly flashing, and I can't get the login page or any internet access. At the moment I'm plugged directly into the modem.

I downloaded the broadcom 1.1.4 TRX file. I then backed up the configuration, and then uploaded the TRX file into the router. It updated, then said it was rebooting. After 10 minutes, I pulled the plug on it and put it back in. Still nothing is working. Even the reset button did nothing. Is it now bricked because of the upgrade?

Thanks to this page: http://wrt54gl.wordpress.com/wrt54gl-debrick/ I managed to crack into the router again. Took me a while, but I now have Gargoyle 1.1.4 operating. Not sure why it bricked itself?

Anyway, the quotas reset themselves during the mucking around, but I can manage with that. 1.1.4 Let me remove the quota for the laptop, and it is now associated with the desktop under the same quota.

Thanks Eric!
