Netgear WNDR3700v2 with no WAN port connectivity

Post by thadapacadava »

Hi,

My setup is like this:

* Thompson SpeedTouch ST536 ADSL2+ modem
* Netgear WNDR3700v2 flashed with gargoyle_1.5.9-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700v2-squashfs-factory

If you like you can see a thread I've opened on whirlpool forums:

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re ... ?t=2067225

Basically I am not getting any link light on the routers WAN port. Without touching a thing I went from stock netgear firmware (latest version 1.0.0.36) which had internet working to the firmware file above. I then entered ISP username and password under the connections tab on the side after choosing PPPoE as the connection method. I do not get any link light on the router or modem ethernet ports, I'm assuming indicating some sort of data link layer issue, as the same cable was used when internet was working on the netgear firmware.

Help!

Have you tried power cycling? I had the same issue until I power cycled my modem

Thanks for your assistance.

To be honest, I am not certain if I have. I'll give it a shot first thing tonight.

Power cycling did not resolve the issue.

Troubleshooting yesterday involved:

* Flash gargoyle_1.4.7-ar71xx-wndr3700v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin over the latest gargoyle firmware. Nothing changed.

* Put a switch in between modem ethernet port and router WAN ethernet port. The modem ethernet light comes on straight away, and the router ethernet light pulses orange. On the switch link where the router is connected it comes on for a few seconds and then goes away for a few seconds.

I must be doing something wrong, and feel like the answer is right in front of me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like an auto negotiation issue... a little more searching confirms others with the same issue... and a solution.

I did notice that while browsing for fixes, but I just ended up replacing the router with a WNDR3800. It worked right away with the 3800.
