Re: need help
If you have DD-WRT firmware on your router, you can flash
via the DD-WRT GUI to Gargoyle
POSSIBLE via GUI = DD-WRT -->> Gargoyle
POSSIBLE via GUI = Gargoyle -->> DD-WRT
NOT POSSIBLE via GUI = Gargoyle or OpenWRT ->> stock firmware
If you have DD-WRT installed
Goto Downloads on the left menu
Choose the Atheros AR71XX series
When flashing via DD-WRT GUI - use the "sysupgrade" firmware
"factory" firmwares are for flashing from router stock firmware via TFTP

Re: need help
Ok,
Just to clarify. On your 1043ND you have DD-WRT & you want to try Gargoyle?
I have just done this, DD-WRT didn't want to go straight to Gargoyle, even though it should.
1. Goto:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=85237
You will need a forum account to download the files. Download the revert file for TP-Link WR1043N/ND v1.
2. Using the DD-WRT web interface revert to the stock software using this image. You may have to rename it to a simple filename as this sometimes causes issues (e.g. rename the long file as stock.bin)
3. Upgrade the stock image to the latest version using the TP-Link web interface. This image can be found at:
http://www.tp-link.com/en/support/downl ... n=V1#tbl_j
4. Download the Gargoyle image of your choice. Quite a lot of people have suggested 1.5.6 is best for this router, I have tried 1.5.9 and it is fine for me.
5. Rename the file something simple (e.g. gargoyle.bin) and install it using the TP-Link web interface.
6. Log onto your gargoyle router at 192.168.1.1 with password = password
I hope this answers your question...

Re: need help
It depends on the device I guess.
I've successfully flashed the following:
WRT54G-TM -- flashed DD-WRT -->> Gargoyle via DD-WRT GUI
WRT54G-TM -- flashed Gargoyle -->> DD-WRT via Gargoyle GUI
WZR-HP-G300NH V1 -- flashed DD-WRT -->> Gargoyle via DD-WRT GUI
WZR-HP-G300NH V1 -- flashed Gargoyle -->> DD-WRT via Gargoyle GUI
Some routers may or may not be able to do this, but I have personally
done the above back/forth flashes and they work fine
Atheros chipsets take MUCH longer to flash back/forth
If you're flashing an Atheros chipset device - let the flash go
for about 10-15 minutes, then if you see no response,
power cycle the router and see what GUI comes up.
