windows 7 vpn configuration

Post by dcbahr »

Hi. Running gargoyle v 1.5.9 and using a tp-link 1043nd router. So, with my stock firmware I had a vpn set up in windows 7, connecting my laptop to the desktop. I've tried open vpn, but found it to be a huge headache with lots of attempts at setup. I'd rather use the easier to set up windows 7 vpn pptp, unless that really compromises security in which case I suppose I'll have to go with openvpn. How can I allow the windows 7, with my desktop as server, and laptop as client, to connect? Do I need to enable a pptp passthrough, and if so, where? I've already forwarded port 1723 which, if memory serves, is the port for win7 vpn. any thoughts? loving the interface so far, very user friendly.
