Hi,
Yesterday I tried to upgrade my router from 1.4.7 to 1.5.8 - but I used the sysupgrade instead of the factory - and now it's not working anymore. I am able to access fail safe mode - but firstboot doesn't help. Wireshark tells me, that it doesn't assign an IP address - and in fail safe, uci get network.lan.ipaddr returns nothing.
Is it possible to flash the router via fail safe mode, or do I have to use tftp via the internal serial port?

It's possible to flash. You just need to:
-assign a static IP in your computer
-set up a http server and put the firmware image in wwwroot directory
#router
-go to failsafe mode
-cd /tmp
-wget http://computer_ip_adress/firmware.bin
-mtd -r write firmware.bin firmware
That's it

Re: Semi bricked tl-wr1043nd
My WR1043ND is bricked too. however, I'm unable to get it to go into Failsafe mode.
After i press reset, the SYS only blink once. It does not keep blinking.
Tried many times of pressing QSS after SYS blinks once. But does not work; SYS does not keep blinking, when is a sign that it has gone into failsafe.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

Get a serial(TTL) cable and flash it again.
