Looks like the perfect platform for Gargoyle.

Re: Netgear WNR3500L
That looks like a really nice router.
3 things though
1) Internal antennas = short range!
I've got 2 - WNDR3300's - prior generations of that router
Their 5 GHZ Wireless-N is great, when it works, but range is pretty
bad - maybe 50 feet MAX, less with walls in the way.
50 feet max is line of sight.
2) since gargoyle is Open WRT based and using those drivers,
gotta wait for Open WRT support / drivers
Looking at chipset - Broadcom 4700 series, looks like it should work.
Wonder if the Wireless-N is supported yet though?
3) does Open WRT support gigabit switches yet? that would be
pretty cool if it did!

Re: Netgear WNR3500L
Nice...
I've got about 8 routers in my house already though... 6 in use and
a couple of spare WHR-G300N's as I really like them.
Wouldn't even take advantage of Gigabit myself.
Not a whole lot of file-sharing between the computers.
I been looking and can't find it online though, probably be out
within the next few weeks - in the USA at least.
Don't know if I'll get one anytime soon though.
Looking around $150 for it.
I don't think I've paid over $50 for any router I have!

Re: Netgear WNR3500L
Which image can be used to flash this router? Is it better to install Gargoyle using packages?

Re: Netgear WNR3500L
Wow - old thread
Looks like there is some sort of older beta Openwrt image
I don't believe there is a Gargoyle image you can flash yet
From reading the OpenWRT forums, it looks like there are some
issues with the newer Broadcom drivers that is needed to support
the chip in this router.
Some of the people in the OpenWRT actually bricked devices and
had to recover via JTAG.
If you are not comfortable with recovering via JTAG - WAIT
Don't flash until you see a specific image for the device.

Re: Netgear WNR3500L
Hi,
I'm wondering if there is any update on this?
I'm about to purchase a Netgear WNR3500L, and was wondering if it's possible to get Gargoyle on it?
Thanks,
Victor

Looks like there is still no official support by OpenWRT for
the WNR3500L router - might be a while yet.
DD-WRT and Tomato do currently support it though.
Looks like requests to add support for the WNR3500L with
OpenWRT has been going on for about a year.
Suggestion: DON'T buy it in anticipation that Gargoyle will support
it right away - has to be supported by OpenWRT first, and no
telling how long that might take?
