That's something I haven't fully got my head around yet.
To the original question, I was assuming gargoyle trunk.

"Trunk" almost always refers to a subversion repository (like what OpenWrt uses), not a git repository (like what Gargoyle uses). In a git repository the primary branch is usually referred to as "master", not "trunk". "Branch" can refer to either a subversion repository or a git repository.
