Quota usage retains old hosts

Post by swsl »

Hi, don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but I would like a workaround if there is one.

I'm finding that when I go to the quota page I have to wade through a lot of old (weeks old) hosts that were assigned by DHCP to get to the ones that we are using now. I've got a lease time of 2 hours, and these are not current leases or anything, just old addresses lingering and making a busy page even harder to sort out in my case.

Is there any way to clear that old stuff out of memory? I have it set to reboot every day, so I would think that would clear out old crap, but no...

thanks and cheers.

Note: it's a Linksys wrt54GS running 1.4.4

I don't know if you can do it through the GUI

I think you can go in through putty into:

/usr/data/quotas

and manually edit files and/or backup and delete files in there

NOT entirely sure as I don't use quotas so my directory is empty

I'm not sure how to do what you suggested. I've telnetted in before to install DD-WRT but not experienced enough to take it from the clue you gave. Hoping that somebody can give me information on how to do this within Gargoye or else a little more detail on the procedure with telnet.
A button for "reset" or "refresh" hostnames on the quota list (or under DHCP) would be perfect, of course.

It seems odd that everybody (or IP) who ever connected in the history of the router would remain on the list for quota usage, doesn't it?

Was it inteneded that way or just another yet to be dealt with detail?

cheers

OK, I figured out one workaround:

I removed the quota for "all hosts without individual quotas".
Save
Rebuild same quota rule.
Save.

All the noise is gone on quota usage page now.

Next time, I'll try just disabling the quota/Save/enable/Save
to see if it works as well and could save time rebuilding the quota rule.

Still, wish there were a more direct way to clean the noise out.
