kbit in QoS equal to 1000 or 1024 bits?

It might sound like a dumb question, but I found some diverting opinions online. Wikipedia insist that 1 kbit = 1000 bits but the google calculator disagrees most vehemently suggesting 1024 bits.

Always a point of confusion. When "KB" is used it means 1000. When "KiB" is used it means 1024. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilobyte

Gargoyle uses KB.
