Revision 968471be 27 Dec 2011.7z

Post by ispyisail »

Bug Fix's

and

"automatically detect and use swap partitions on USB disks"
I'm implementing this now -- in the next version swap partitions on USB drives will be mounted automatically, and if that provides enough memory Tor will be enabled.

Also, it would be wrong to say that Tor "works" now on routers with < 64MB of memory, even though it is enabled in 1.5.1. That's the problem -- if Tor is enabled without enough memory the router crashes. The check is only to keep people from shooting themselves in the foot.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

But have you created a SWAP partition on your HDD?

how does one go about that?

There was data on the stick, I'm in the process of removing the data and then I was going to format fat32.

But now in going to google SWAP

Check this: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Partition/fdi ... oning.html
You will need to use fdisk to repartition your HDD, when you have made a backup of the data that you need.
I have not yet used this on Gargoyle, but I can see that the included fdisk can be used.

I used Acronis Disk director (easy)

I now need to write something on the wiki

A method from a windows machine using open source, any suggestions?

You could try GParted: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

Looks like 4 gig SWAP is a little excessive

Will reduce to 128MB

I've now split my USB thumb dive up

128 SWAP
3.x GIG fat32

unfortunately gargoyle no longer recognises the fat 32 partition

Thoughts?
