Can Router IP request from DHCP server?

Post by ccy »

I have successfully setup Gargarle WRT on TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND wifi router.

In Gargorle Connection | Basic page, there is a section "Local Network / LAN" to setup router's IP. The IP has to be enter statically. In some situation, I want to use the router as normal DHCP client on my LAN that has DHCP server. The GUI doesn't seems to have any option that make the router as normal DHCP client acquired IP from DHCP server.

Please advice how to make router acquired IP from DHCP server using normal LAN port (not WAN port).

To function as a router your Gargoyle router needs to be the DHCP server on your LAN. There are many functions that depend on it. So you will have to disable whatever other DHCP server you have on your LAN.

Netgear WNDR3700v2
TP Link 1043ND v3
TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1

Thanks. Perhaps I didn't ask clearly about my intention. I want to make the router as normal DHCP client on my LAN. It seems like the Gargoyle Web UI doesn't have any option to make the device as DHCP client. At the moment, I must enter a static IP address to the device.

You might be able to do this via command line.

There are no options to set this up via GUI currently.

Might give you some help there.

Does the option in Connection/DHCP not do this? Set the LAN DHCP enabled?
