setup QoS

Post by Jimbo »

Hi all,

just setup a gargoyle router and wanted to get QoS working and was hoping for some help..

Firstly I setup a static IP for a Apple TV unit.
The a QoS Rule called FAST tied to the Destination IP (the IP of the Apple TV)

However, after 24 hours when i go to look at Status-> QoS Distribution there is no activity in the FAST but all in the NORMAL (the default).

When I look at Status->B/W distribution I see at least 500meg on my Apple TV's IP address.

Is there something I am missing here?

What version of Gargoyle are you using?

You should observe the connections screen to see how your connections are being classified. It seems you have an error in your rule or your static IP assignment.

Please post your QoS settings if you need more help.

Version 1.4.2.

Here's my static IP setup http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/staticip.jpg/

Here's the classification http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/198/qosclass.jpg/

Here's the rule http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/qosrule.jpg/

Here's my QoS distribution for the last 24 hours http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/19 ... ution.jpg/

Open ports are typically around 5-6000 (of 16k) when under load.

Observe the classes at the bottom of the Qos Download screen. Do they show all traffic in the "Normal" class? Also please post a sample of your connections screen. Are all connections being placed in the normal class?

Are these the upload or the download QoS screens you posted?

Not sure the issue is with QoS or the pie chart generation.

Ok,
So it seems that this problem is not with the pie chart generation. One thing I will point out to you is that Quota rules take priority over QoS rules. Do you have a quota rule enforce on big-TV-2 that is forcing the traffic to the Normal class?

Next I would like a screen shot of your download QoS page. I want to see all the rules as they are listed. Previously you showed me the detail of only one rule.

If this does not resolve your issue then I would be interested to access your router to do some more detailed diagnostics so PM me.

the penny drops :)

I had a number of normal class matches above my fast QoS.

I've moved the Fast to number one, hopefully that will sort it. I'll let you know and thanks for your help...
