QOS Working?

Post by ceew »

Is there any way to test whether QOS is working..

Its just that I have been surfing and downloading torrents, yet the surfing experience was very sluggish, and the torrent downloading was about 500k, yet the surf was about 60k, yet i know megaupload always supplies me with about 200k..

Any Ideas?

cheers

Need more data. What is your link speed? What is megaupload? Do you have the active controller on? What classes do you have defined?

To prove QoS works start with a very simple setup. Define only one download & upload class with bandwidth at 10% of your link speed. Then check that your torrents and everything else is limited to 10% of your link speed. Then add another class (at 10% again) and route all traffic other than your torrents to the new class. Are they both limited to 10%? This is how you gain confidence that QoS is working.

Im having the same issue. I tried creating only a single class of service on the download side, but it's still not working.

my link speed is set to 1000K, my class of service is set for 20% of link speed and is also set for a max of 200K. but when I run speedtest it still gets the full 1000K despite the rule. My router is a linksys WRT54GS V4 running the 1.4.2 version of Gargoyle.

I doubt yours is the same issue. Please start your own thread and describe your problem and setup.
