Ubiquiti RSPro

Post by Trailblazer »

Hello,

Is anyone else using Gargoyle on a RSPro?

I'm looking for a 5Ghz N mini-pci card that is supported by Gargoyle on this particular router, preferably one that someone has used.

I tried to get my old CM9 working, but it wouldn't let me load the Ath5k drivers required for it, so I dropped it.

Thanks for any assistance.

Looks like these 2 from SparkLan work currently

(Researched from OpenWRT forums)

OpenWRT forums are going to be your best bet to find the info
as I don't think there are a lot of RS/RS Pro users on Gargoyle yet.

WMIA-199NI

Good info post to read

Also looks like the SR-71xx cards are supported as well.
Have not seen much info about the XR cards.

Thanks DIM. Checking it out now. There's a MicroTik which has the Atheros 9220 chip as well, the MikroTik R52Hn.

On another note, so you're building your own images? Care to share any instructions on how to do this. I just installed an SVN viewer. I have to download the source including gargoyle stuff and then build it on the router to get the right CPU selected. Is that right?

What are the commands. I'm so bad at Linux stuff. Last time I did a make was probably 15 years ago. :(

Thanks!

I'm more of a Windows guy also but have been messing with Linux
more and more, and its not so bad.

As far as compiling your own, its what base you start with.

Get Ubuntu 10.10 or 11.04 - fresh install - 32bit or 64bit

Once thats installed, update it, then follow the Documentation
link and prep your environment.

Checkout the SVN or Git - either works

Then go and do the make command and wait... and wait.
Check on it in a few hours or overnight... lol - depends on your PC.

Thanks DIM. I got Ubuntu all upgraded and I'm building now.

Are you adding any custom packages?

Oh man, ran out of space on my linux partition. Hmmm....

Yea, the Gargoyle and OpenWRT builds can get big

You need to plan on around 2GB when you fresh download
and compile from the svn/git repository

Luckily I have an old dual-core laptop with 250GB HD in it

Only thing I use it for is to compile OpenWRT/Gargoyle
