TP-Link Archer C7.
I haven't bought a router yet.
I am looking to buy a TP-Link AC1750 Archer C7.
I don't know what version I would physically receive. I see there's a V4 out though.
Will Gargoyle work with V4?
Where on the box would it say the version number?
I am looking to connect an Arris TG862G modem/gateway to a new router (the TP-Link Archer C7), and set up a VPN on the C7. The VPN will host a NVR for a camera security system.

Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
It should be possible to support it on version 1.11.0 (in the works), but it is currently not slated for mainstream support i.e. you would need to compile your own version.
Is it currently supported: no

Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
Thanks for the prompt response!
How can I tell what version I'm getting, from the box? Will it say it on there? Where?
What's a new router that I can get that will support Gargoyle?
The Netgear WNDR4300 was another router I looked at. But it appears Gargoyle only supports V1, I think there's a newer version out?
The TP-Link TL-WDR4300 was another router I looked at, but I was afraid of the same thing. That I would physically get a version that wasn't compatible.
So what router can I get, whose newest version is supported by Gargoyle? So I won't have to be concerned with getting a version that's newer than is supported by Gargoyle.
Thank you.

all these routers are now too slow (unless you have slow internet)
You need one of the linksys routers

Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
Depending on your country and relevant legislation, the box the router comes in should have an FCCID attached.
You can reference the FCCID against a site like wikidevi

Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
Wow, when looking at the supported routers wiki, I didn't realize there was so much more RAM and Flash RAM.ispyisail wrote:all these routers are now too slow (unless you have slow internet)

The TP Link Archer C7 had 128 MB RAM, 16 MB Flash.
The Linksys AC1900 has 512 MB Ram and 128 MB Flash RAM.
I see there's also a cost difference. The ones I had mentioned yesterday were $40 - $65.
This Linksys one is $120.
I'll get it if it works. But I can't figure out if this is the 256 RAM version, or the 512 RAM version.

Also, will whatever version I get of this, work with Gargoyle? I'm not sure how to tell what the latest version is.
Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
I don't know what you consider this, but it says I have "Download speeds up to 75 Mbps".ispyisail wrote:all these routers are now too slow (unless you have slow internet)

When I go to Speedtest.net, it says I have "182.9 Mbps".
Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
The model number of that router is E9600, and is not one of the supported routers.
If you want Linksys, look for:
WRT1900AC V1/2
WRT1900ACS
WRT3200ACM
WRT32X

Re: TP-Link Archer C7.
These routers should be able to handle up to 300mbps NAT, for most people it's more than enough.ispyisail wrote:all these routers are now too slow (unless you have slow internet)
