I'd suggest you look into what makes the LEDs work in trunk and modify the sources for 1.5.x and compile yourself a working 1.5.x. I learned a great deal through the process. :)

Are you saying you have successfully compiled the latest trunk
with current Gargoyle sources?

If so, would you mind posting a set of recent compile bins?

I'm interested to try out the AR71xx branches.

I recently did a compile of Trunk on Debian Wheezy
This has my DIR-601 running kernel 3.2.9 which seems solid

I'd be interested to see how Gargoyle runs with Kernel 3.2.9!

Negative. What I did was fix three files in backfire 338 which made it work with my router. That's all.
