Re: TL-WR941ND Version Mismatch
Thanks for the heads up, Im about to read the wiki again. I do notice ddwrt appears using the same firmware from V1-3 so I suspect all 3 versions might using the same hardware. I will do some digging to confirm.

I have the exact same V3.2 as in this post. I reinstall and redownload the V3941nd from this site couple of time and it is still having the same result. The only stable version I could use is 1.6.0 and anything above it, the wifi becomes unstable or not usable.

ic your point, my main router is 1043nd and the 941 is my repeater which I thought I will try to keep it alive as long as I could. I really like these old tp-link 3AT routers and hope I can keep it a little longer.

You could compile your own Openwrt ROM with latest code but having bare minimum packages to fit on 4MB. FYI, you might have to do without LUCI web interface too to fit on 4MB. This would work if you are simply using it as a repeater. Otherwise, just load an older firmware on it.1043_941_841ND wrote:ic your point, my main router is 1043nd and the 941 is my repeater which I thought I will try to keep it alive as long as I could. PM me if you need to buy Gargoyle router in Australia/NZ, willing to pay me to help you on your Gargoyle configurations or build custom configured ROM with pre-installed app or try to fix your bricked router. Yes, I am looking for job/work.

Re: TL-WR941ND Version Mismatch
hi Eric,
Thank you for your advice, I believe I will stick with 1.6.0 on my 941nd which is fairly stable as a repeater. Im really not good with compiling file and do not know where to start even if I want to.
I always like the openwrt base firmware which it handles my old 1043nd wifi issue nicely after version 1.6 and Im testing the 1.9 on the 1043nd. I was thinking to get all my routers fw to 1.9 level but I do not believe my old 941nd V3 able to handle it unless I have the V1 which has 8M flash. Oh well, it is what it is and I still happy it still works

Re: TL-WR941ND Version Mismatch
Not that i really matters but... after two years i thought i would give it another go, since i could use a bridge at the moment.
This time it seems to work, with the old Firmware it dit not work as a repeater/bridge. But it dit work as an access point.
With "Gargoyle Version:1.8.1" it seems to perform reliably now as a bridge.
But it still reports the wrong firmware "Model:TP-Link TL-WR941N/ND v2".
Yes, i flashed the right firmware, i double checked the labels and files.
Still the config menu reports the wrong hardware version.

Re: TL-WR941ND Version Mismatch
For your interest that version is buggy
Re: TL-WR941ND Version Mismatch
I totally agree, bought used WR941ND V3.2, but 1.8.1 just couldn't install plugins or anything, opkg revealed via ssh that the destination could not be written to. The Version was incorrectly reported as V2 in the Status menu as well (in 1.6.2 too, but opkg works there).ispyisail wrote:For your interest that version is buggy
(WR1043nd v1 seems fine on 1.8.1)
Unfortunately there is still no Wiki, or at least Tooltips or something where this info could be embedded on the download page, unless someone hardcoded it in html/jscript
