Guest network??

Post by Urgje »

Hi,

Can anybody tell me whether it is possible to setup guest networks for a WNDR3700v2 within Gargoyle, like it can be done in the official Netgear firmware (can be done in at least firmware version 1.0.0.8 and the latest; 1.0.0.10).
The major drawback in the official Netgear firmware was, that setting up WPA-PSK encryption for the 2.4 GHz guest network, meant that the throughput for the entire band was dropped to 54Mbps. Is that what happens within Gargoyle too (provided that a guest network can be set up of course).

greetings, Urgje

Urgje,

You do know that Wireless-N spec is WPA2-AES only correct?

If you put any other setting, you will not get Wireless-N
It will drop down to Wireless-G speeds

I didn't know, being new to the N 'reality'. But I do now. Thanks!

The question still is; is it possible to setup guest networks within Gargoyle firmware?

Urgje - try following that guide.

I will try this myself when I get home.

Currently, I don't think you can do multiple ssid's via the GUI.

This may work via the command line, but remember, whenever you
make any wireless changes via the GUI, it usually overwrites/removes
any changes you have made via command line.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply and the link. That's a lot of information to chew and digest. Being short on free time for the next weeks, I think I'll take it slow and read and learn a lot before I roll up my sleeves and get to work on this. <grin>
Very grateful for the direction you pointed out for me!
