Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
I do a nightly reboot at 3AM. Last night, the router did not boot after the reboot. It now shows LED's for power, flashing system and ethernet. No radio, can't ping it and when I turn the radio switch from on to off, it reboots. Reset doesn't seem to change anything.
I am able to get it to go into failsafe, but unable to get a recovery to flash with TFTP. I have not worked on this in almost 6 years, so I am going to need to relearn how to deal with this.
Running 1.11.0 as a client bridge.
Open to ideas...
Thanks

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
If you are successfully booted into failsafe, you could either factory reset the router (using "firstboot -y" command) or you can transfer the upgrade file into RAM using SCP (WinSCP on Windows) and initiate a "sysupgrade" from there.
TFTP would only be running if you were using some kind of factory failsafe mechanism or a preboot failsafe.

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
I am assuming that I am able to get to failsafe, by holding reset, while powering up. I get to a fast flashing system LED, which is what I believe is failsafe.
I don't know how to do what you have suggested. I ping the router and nothing, so not sure how to enter a command, or factory reset from that state. I am unable to access the web interface at 192.168.1.1
Thanks,
SL

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
Have you searched for how to use failsafe for OpenWrt?
You need to set a static IP for your computer in the 192.168.1.X subnet range (e.g. 192.168.1.100) and then SSH to the router.
There will be no web interface, you must reset it using command line.
While the images in this thread are gone, it is still relevant.

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
Yes, I did. I did have a static IP. What I read, said to telnet, but I was getting an error. Something about the connection was rejected.
Using Putty, I tried SSH. I am unable to login, using ROOT, no password. I tried various combinations of admin etc, still no login access.

root, lowercase. Just checking you got this right?
No password.
SSH is what you need, not Telnet.

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
I was able to login with password as "password". No password does not work. I was able to restore the router, but it wasn't clear to me how I did it.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
I installed the Gargoyle router yesterday. The same thing happened, after the scheduled reboot. However, this time is wasn't partially bricked. It did require a power cycle to come back to functioning.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks,
SL

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
You would need to check the logs after the reboot to understand why it’s not working.
It’s also a very old version so I can’t offer much advice. Wireless bridge is a flakey connection type at the best of times.

Re: Archer C7 V2 Did Not Boot After Scheduled Reboot
This worked for a long while, then replaced. That was 6 years ago. Now, the replacement has issues, so I was going to use this TP-Link, for the time being. It worked fine for a few weeks and now this is happening.
