Increase partition size on sata hd for x86-64 install

Post by bbsux »

First I’m sorry if it’s been covered but I can’t come up with the proper search terms.

I have my x86-64 install up and running perfectly but I’m using a sata 500gb hard drive and would like to increase the size to allow more logging.

I assume I can do this via ssh or prompt after booting

Btw I’m not very experienced with Linux command line (dos yes! lol)

Thank you for your help!

In the absence of Gargoyle specific advice I would just put the phrase "openwrt resize root partition x86" (without quotes) into your favourite search engine. I expect all the advice for OpenWrt will apply to Gargoyle fairly reliably - certainly for x86 anyway.

You may however want to look into leaving the root partition unchanged and creating an extra partition that is then mounted where needed, possibly using the extroot strategy. This may make future upgrades somewhat easier to manage, but I don't speak from experience :( only from what I've read.
