Website Blocking - Bug?

Post by bluesnarfer »

Hi, I have tried using both firmware version 1.3.13 and 1.2.5 to try and get the website blocking to work correctly. I have tried to search this forum for a solution but was unable to easily find an answer, so I apologize if this question has already been addressed. Anyway here is what I am trying to accomplish. I would like to block all websites except a select few, but would like to allow all protocols such as AIM, https, etc. So I have basically performed everything described here http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... ?f=5&t=292 EG: creating the Block All rule, then creating the whitelist exception where everything is set to Permit All and then website URLs is set to Permit Only, then I have added the few websites that I would like to allow. After configuring the block rule & the whitelist rule, I am unable to get to any website besides the few I have added to the whitelist. So that part is working correctly, however when I try to use Outlook to send/receive email, AIM, visit https websites... It does not appear that the whitelist rule allows this to happen even though everything is set to Permit All, I have tried deleting the block all rule in hopes that just having the whitelist rule would allow all protocols to work & only allow the websites to be displayed, but when the block all rule is removed then users are able to get to all websites. I believe this maybe a bug in the firmware
