Failure to set QoS correctly

Post by Cozzie »

I have a housemate that is dling constantly which I am unable to determine the software used (suspect of some kind of P2P and heavy video streaming) which has rendered another housemate's gaming unplayable.

QoS Download

QoS Upload

The game is warcraft 3 the port set as 6654 (can the system accept a range of port in the box or do I have to set up ports individually?).

I believe my total bandwidth is set up correctly sync is 12Mbps/1Mbps.

Thank you =)

You did not mention what router you had. Many routers cannot support such high speeds so you will not be able achieve them. Also ISP performance varies throughout the day. I suggest that you lower your upload and download limits to 6Mbps/500kbps. Then if you have success then you can start to increase while testing at each setting until the situation with your game again becomes a problem again.

I recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of Gargoyle. Then you will have access to the active congestion controller which will automatically determine the maximum download speed in real time and compensate for variations in the performance of your ISP.

In QoS you can specify a port range using '-'. For example you can enter 1000-2000 as your port range.

Netgear WNDR3700v2
TP Link 1043ND v3
TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1

WRT54G-TM

Sorry, the router is a WRT54GS.

I would not be able to use gargoyle until this bug is resolved unfortunately.

Currently using DDWRT and the issue seems to be not present.
