I did my research and found this to be one of the favored routers for Gargoyle. I was under some pressure to get this set up and I thought I had read somewhere that the order of flashing would be to take the OEM to OpenWRT first. Then to Gargoyle. I think that could be the wrong approach. But that's where I am at. I flashed with mvebu-cortexa9-linksys-wrt3200acm-squashfs-factory.img
Now from here I chose the corresponding Gargoyle factory.img and OpenWRT does not like it. I'm afraid to force it to install as it says it's not the right format. Any help would be appreciated.

Once you're already on OpenWrt, you use the sysupgrade images, not the factory image.
You may still get an incompatibility message unless you flash the latest 1.11.x
