Unable to complete a fis load

Post by noxin »

Hello,
At the advice from someone at FoneraHacks, I tried to load Gargoyle on my Fonera+ 2201 device.

Unfortunately, when I completed the firmware changes using the directions, I got the below from the Serial Console, and it just hangs. I even left it alone for several hours to ensure I wasn't just being impatient.

If I revert back to 1.1.1r1 it loads as expect and brings up the Fon configurations and everything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try installing the firmware using the FonFlash utility available in the downloads section. It's really easy to use and automates the installation process to avoid errors. The only catch is that if you're using windows, you will need to install WinPcap.

Just connect via ethernet to the fon+, run fon-flash, select your ethernet adapter, specify you are installing gargoyle/openwrt firmware, specify the location of the two firmware files you need to flash. Then hit the big "Flash now button" at the bottom of the screen and immediately cycle the power on the Fon+. That's all -- wait about 45 minutes and you should have a working router with Gargoyle.

If you still have problems after that, let me know and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

To bring this to a close, using the FonFlash, which I didn't use originally because I was leery of putting winpcap on my Vista box, solved the issue with the infinite reboots.

I've now flashed two 2201 devices and one 2100 without issue.

Thanks for the help!
