Is it possible to upgrade from 1.9.1 to 1.9.2 without preserving settings but, after the upgrade, restore a configurationfile made in the 1.9.1 version? Without bricking the router of course.
If not, cool anyway because Gargoyle is the best router firmware I have ever used. Respect guys! I've only been using it a couple of days but still.. Thumbs up!
Restoring afterwards is effectively the same.
So if one would cause a problem so would the other.

Hi, I upgraded from 1.8.1. Settings not tried to be preserved. The device is TL-WR740n v4.
I'm using the device as a transparent AP - a LAN cable from the main router's switch is inserted in one of the LAN ports of the Gargoyle (WR740n) device. A wireless AP is configured with a static IP, disabled DHCP and WAN internet. Using Google's DNS.
Have the following problems:
1. Gargoyle's DHCP does sometimes turns on itself?! Have to switch it off manually.
2. With 1.8.1 I was able to connect all clients with 150Mb/s, now - only 72?! Same network channel, same clients, 40MHz is on.
3. Most of the plug-ins that I have used, now are >11Mbytes, which makes it impossible to install them on the WR740n?! E. g. webshell & logread.
If this is gonna be the case with plug-ins and so, please tell me how to revert back to a clean 1.8.1? Is it enough to put 1.8.1 susupgrade.bin on the 1.9.2's upgrdae firmware page and not preserve settings?
Than you for your time, and thanks to the developers for keeping this great project alive!
Some config options enable DHCP. It should always be the last thing you change just in case.
Regulatory standards (not enforced in 1.8, now in 1.9) prevent 40MHz channel operation where it will interfere with other networks. You are therefore getting the full 20mhz speed.
Because your device only has 4mb of flash, in order to keep them stable, plugin installation was disabled.
If you want to revert you can sysupgrade to 1.8.1, but be aware that no development will happen on that version.
You'd be better suited with a higher spec router and moving forward with us

Because your router is too small to take plugins so it has been disabled.
