edit: solved - downgraded to DD-WRT, tried again, worked

Hi - trying to upgrade to test.

Using this command from within my current openwrt:
mtd -r write openwrt-lantiq-xway-WBMR-squashfs.image linux

I get:
Could not open mtd device: linux
Can't open device for writing!

I understand that squashfs is read only.
So does this need to be done from DD-WRT, rather than openwrt?
A pain for me to have to go back to DD-WRT first ...
