Wester Digital n750

Post by hassam »

Hi Guys,

I just need to use my router as bridge and gargoyle seems the best option.

I have a WD N750 router and I need a stable version.

What firmware do I need.

Thank you in advance.

I would recommend loading Gargoyle v1.9.0
If you are currently using the original manufacturers firmware then flash with
gargoyle_1.9.0-ar71xx-generic-mynet-n750-squashfs-factory.bin
(use ...sysupgrade.bin if you are already on openWRT or gargoyle)

Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Hi,

I've downloaded the file you suggested.

When I go to firmware update on my router and select the file to upload it comes back with the following.

" Firmware Upload Fail
No image file. Please select the correct image file and upload it again."

I've then renamed the file to Gargoyle.bin and the message still appears.

Any suggestions ?

It seems that there is a special procedure for your router.
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/wd/n750

I would try Installation steps 2 thru 7

Then you should have Gargoyle installed and be able to browse to 192.168.1.1 and enter the default "password"

OMG, that makes me want to buy this router!
QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

I don't know who to say thanks to. :D

I have loaded the latest Gargoyle firmware to my N750 and set it up as a bridge, and now I have fast internet in my Office (no Ethernet point).

This is a great site.

Question:
1) Is there any optimized settings for the bridge? :?:
2) When I update settings like changing the Wifi connection (2.4ghz to 5ghz) it get stuck to a point where I have to reset and start from scratch. :o

1 Know optimized settings.

2 Are you running the latest 1.9.1?

Knot sure what's going on with your settings mate. If you don't want to just set and leave it then you can flash the latest 1.9.x build.
