Wrong plugin packages size

Post by emmexx »

I installed gargoyle 1.9.1 on TP-Link TL-WR841N/ND v11.
I wanted to install the email notifications plugin but the plugins page reports that almost all the plugins are too big.
Ok, this router has only 4MB but is it possible that the email plugin is 12 MB?

Code: Select all

Email notifications for Gargoyle (without SSL support)

Version: 2.0-2
Status: Not Installed
Required Disk Space: 11.353 MBytes
Package Cannot Be Installed (Insufficient Disk Space)
Thank you

Plugin installation is disabled in 4MB routers on versions > 1.8.1, and they therefore show up as oversized.

Ok, I suspected that.
The email notifications package is about 7kB. Why is it not possible to install it? It's a technical question, I read the forum but didn't find an answer.
Is there any alternative? Anything much simpler?

Thank you

Because there simply isn't enough room left on those routers anymore. They are unstable under normal operation without plugins taking up additional space.

If you want to install the plugin manually you need to create the files on the router by hand from here:

What about downgrading to a previous gargoyle version?
I need quotas, client+ap repeater and email notifications.

If downgrading is not a viable option I'll try that.

I think 1.8.1 is the first version with that plugin, but it had a lot of bugs.

I have v11.1, thanks.
From the Download page select:
- Firmware Images
-- Atheros AR71XX
--- 1.9 (experimental)
---- 1.9.1

Download gargoyle_1.9.1-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr841n-v11-squashfs-factory.bin

I used the TP-LINK update firmware page to upload it.

Bye
