Post by MucuCat »

Hello,
I have a tp link wr1043nd v2.1 and i am trying to extend the network with a wireless tp link extender. The only way i can connect the extender with router is through WPS. I tryed to press the button on router and it didnt work.

Can someone help me? I am on v1.9.1

WPS is not implemented.
There are several guides on making it work that you could try. http://euer.krebsco.de/wps-and-openwrt.html
http://lantisproject.com/downloads/gargoyle_ispyisail.php for the latest releases
Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

Hi there Mucucat, what is the model of your TP Link Extender ?

Have you tried to access the extender web-based interface ? There´s a setup wizard that might help you.

Try these address on your browser:

tplinkrepeater.net
tplinkextender.net
or even 192.168.0.254, if none of the above work.

I'm running a similar setup as yours, but not with the stock firmware.

Router: WR842ND v2 running Gargoyle 1.9.1.
Extender: WA850RE v1 running OpenWRT Chaos Calmer.
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 - Gargoyle 1.12.X
TP-Link WR842ND v2 - Gargoyle 1.10.X
TP-Link RE450 AC v2 - Stock FW 1.0.4
TP-Link WA850RE v1.2 - LEDE 17.01.1

i have tl-wa854re v1.2 and its garbage. was reading bit now and others also have issues with it. so i configured it and it said that i am connected to internet but it just didnt work. after 5x reseting it i was unable to connect to it through tplinkrepeater.net or tplinkextender.net. but thank god 192.168.0.254 worked (thanks for posting :D ).

Is there a gargoyle version for it? i found dd-wrt but if gargoyle version exist i would go for that in a hearthbeat.

Yeah, WA854RE is kinda tricky for not having an ethernet port (what's up with that ? :? ), and no OpenWRT support.

What if you try to manually set all the network configuration through the web interface?

Remember to turn off DHCP.

Not that i'm aware of. Gargoyle only supports WA830RE/WA850RE/WA860RE.

By the way, which firmware version are you using on your WA854RE ?
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 - Gargoyle 1.12.X
TP-Link WR842ND v2 - Gargoyle 1.10.X
TP-Link RE450 AC v2 - Stock FW 1.0.4
TP-Link WA850RE v1.2 - LEDE 17.01.1

You're welcome.

If you're still having issues or just want to get rid of the stock firmware for better stability, you can always try to flash a DD-WRT modded version of WA901NDv3.

Instructions are described in the link below:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=288868

Good luck and happy flashing 8-)
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 - Gargoyle 1.12.X
TP-Link WR842ND v2 - Gargoyle 1.10.X
TP-Link RE450 AC v2 - Stock FW 1.0.4
TP-Link WA850RE v1.2 - LEDE 17.01.1
